Why do I need Illustrator CS4?
Illustrator CS4 lets you create graphics and type in vector format. Vector graphics are resolution independent, which means you can resize a graphic from a business card to a billboard and it will maintain its high quality. Illustrator also lets you create assets that can easily go to out to different media: print, web, interactive, video, and mobile.
I own an older version of Illustrator. Can I upgrade to Illustrator CS4?
If you own Illustrator CS, CS2, or CS3, you can upgrade to Illustrator CS4. Older versions of Illustrator are not eligible for upgrade.
I own an older version of Illustrator. Can I upgrade to an edition of Creative Suite 4?
Yes. If you own Illustrator CS, CS2, or CS3, you can upgrade to the following Creative Suite 4 editions: Design Premium, Web Premium, Production Premium, or Design Standard. There is no upgrade from Illustrator to Creative Suite 4 Web Standard or Master Collection. Older versions of Illustrator are not available for upgrade.
Can I upgrade from Macromedia® FreeHand®?
If you own a registered copy of FreeHand MX, 10, or 9, you can upgrade to Illustrator CS4. This FreeHand upgrade is available for volume purchases and licensing.
I have lots of old Illustrator files. Can I still open and edit them in Illustrator CS4?
Yes. Files created in versions older than Illustrator CS require that type be updated to a newer format before it can be edited, but Illustrator handles that automatically.
Are Illustrator CS4 files compatible with Microsoft Office?
Illustrator lets you save files in PNG format for use in Office. Files saved in Illustrator's native file format cannot be used in Microsoft Office.
